Asiatique the Riverfront is an unusual night market in Bangkok. Occupying a large complex of old warehouses on the bank of Chao Phraya River, Asiatique the Riverfront feels more like an open-air shopping mall than the real night market.
A visit to Asiatique the Riverfront seems to be included in the program of most Chinese group tours, so expect to see many tour buses to be parked at the parking lot on another side of the road. Normally Chinese and other tourists make the majority of the visitors of this market.
The complex is large but the warehouses and lanes in them are well signed, making it easy to navigate while shopping at the night market.
Thanks to the roofed warehouses, shopping at Asiatique the Riverfront can be comfortable even on a rainy day.
Things to Buy
As the majority of Asiatique the Riverfront visitors are tourists, the goods being sold here mostly consist of various touristy items that can be found in other places in Bangkok such as Chatuchak Weekend Market or MBK Center.
At Asiatique the Riverfront you can buy various souvenirs like statues, fabric covered notebooks, pillow covers…
…colorful coconut shell bowls…
…fragrant natural soaps…
…wonderful luminaries…
…various t-shirts and plenty of other clothes, shoes and accessories…
The starting prices of souvenirs at Asiatique the Riverfront tend to be about 1.5 times higher than on the streets of Bangkok. For example, the soap is sold for 35 baht per piece on the street (even less at Chatuchak) and the starting price at Asiatique is about 50-60 baht. The same goes to coconut shell bowls – the starting price on the street is 200 baht but here is 290 baht. You can try to bargain but don’t expect to buy something for the best possible price at this night market.
