Siem Reap Attractions

Most of tourist attractions in Siem Reap are part of Angkor Archaeological Park that can be visited independently or with a private/group tour.

Angkor Wat

Angkor Wat is the most important tourist attraction not only in Siem Reap but also in all Cambodia. This temple complex is one of the largest religious monuments in the world. Angkor Wat originally was constructed as a Hindu temple that was later transformed into a Buddhist temple. The temple is the most impressive piece of the Khmer Empire’s architecture.

23 meters high face-towers can also be seen at each of the entrances to Angkor Thom.

Angkor Thom Gate

Another important structure of the walled city of Angkor Thom is the Terrace of the Elephants. The 350 meters-long terrace was used by Angkor's king as a huge reviewing stand for public ceremonies. The terrace is named for the carvings of elephants found on its eastern end.

Ta Prohm

Ta Prohm is another temple complex near Siem Reap. Unlike most of temples in Angkor, Ta Prohm is left in almost the same condition as it was found. The photogenic trees growing out of the ruins and the surrounding jungle made Ta Phrom one of the most visited complexes in Angkor.

As some of the buildings at Ta Prohm were completely destroyed, some of them such as this gallery were reconstructed from the scratch.
