Hanoi Airport Bus 86 is an express bus running from Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) to Hanoi City Center. Bus 86 connects both terminals of Hanoi Airport (domestic and international) with Hanoi Old Quarter and Hanoi Railway Station.
Airport bus 86 is the best option of public transportation for tourists traveling from Hanoi Airport to the city center. The bus is able to accommodate 60 passengers so it’s normally not very crowded and comfortable.
Bus 86 departs from Noi Bai Airport, runs directly to Hanoi Old Quarter and ends the journey at Hanoi Railway Station. Traveling on this bus is less time consuming than taking other public buses because there are fewer stops on the route.

This bus fare is applicable only to Bus 86. If you are looking for the cheapest way to get from the airport into the city, choose one of other public buses listed above as their tickets cost just 8,000-9,000 VND per person (about 4 times cheaper than Bus 86).
Hanoi Airport bus tickets can be purchased on board the bus. Only cash is accepted for payments. You can withdraw Vietnamese Dongs from one of airport’s ATMs or exchange you foreign currency. Currency exchange rates at Hanoi Airport are not very competitive and you can get a better value for your money in the city, so exchanging large amount of foreign currency there is not recommended. Just get some local cash for the start of your trip and leave the rest of your money to exchange in the city center.

Bus Schedule from Hanoi Railway Station
The first bus 86 from Hanoi Railway Station to Noi Bai Airport departs at 05:10 and the last one about 21:45. Bus frequency is about every 20-30 minutes.
The bus ride from Noi Bai Airport to Hanoi Railway Station normally takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on traffic.

The bus stop of Hanoi Airport Bus 86 can be easily found as buses park right in front of the airport terminal building.
If you will be arriving at Terminal T1 (Domestic Terminal), leave the terminal building through the main entrance and turn right, the bus stop is about 40 meters from there. Bus 86 buses also make a stop at Terminal T2 (International Terminal) where it stops in front of the airport building.
Finding a bus stop at the airport is not complicated as they have boards clearly displaying what buses step there. In addition, there are several LED boards displaying the direction to the bus stop and indicating route numbers. Just follow directions to Bus 86 and you will not get lost.

There are several bus stops in the central part of Hanoi where you can board Bus 86. Hanoi Airport Bus doesn’t stop at every bus stop it passes so finding the right bus stop is very important. Google Maps might be helpful as the app displays bus stops and you can find the ones where Bus 86 stops. Once at the place, you should look for a bus stop shelter (they are easy to notice in Hanoi).
Make sure that you are on the right side of the street and that the routes on the bus stop sign include Bus 86 route Ga Ha Noi – Bo Ho – San Bay Noi Bai.

Long Bien Bus Interchange – it’s an important bus interchange hub, there are several bus stops and a big number of buses passing by, so make sure that you are waiting at the right place. The place is often crowded and pickpocketing is quite common so be alert.
