The official USD exchange rate on the day of our visit was 30.77 THB for 1 US Dollar, so the rate offered at the best money changer in Chiang Rai (30.60 THB/USD) was only by 0.17 THB lower than the market rate. For every dollar exchanged here you’re losing only about 0.006 USD or 0.6 USD per 100 USD. However, this rate is offered only for 50 and 100 USD banknotes as worse exchange rate is offered for smaller USD bills.
