The weather in Thailand in October is good for a wonderful holiday. October is a month of change as the rain starts to recede and the humidity level falls as the month progresses. The weather in Thailand in October becomes more favorable, because the rainy season has already ended almost throughout the country.

Temperature is declining as October marks the start of the cool season in Northern Thailand. The rainfall in October is rare, only a few times a month, but rain level is still high on both coasts. This is especially true in the second half of the month, when the wind starts to change direction. The provinces of the center are drying up. In October, the average temperature is 30°C (maximum temperature is 33°C and minimum temperature is 28°C).  This is the ideal period to discover the national parks.

Travelers can expect an average of around 360 mm of rainfall and 21 rainy days in October. The climate is always very warm and rainy.

Northern Thailand

The first to meet the "winter" are the northern regions. With a pleasant climate, October is an excellent month to go to Northern Thailand. It is less precipitation and continued good temperatures. In the vicinity of the city of Sukhothai, it rains only 2-3 times a month. It will be a bit wet for about 10 days a month but the sky of the upper north is clearing its cloud and temperatures drop slightly. The temperatures are slightly fresher there and this is a good time for a vacation getaway. The average temperature is 28-30°C. Chiang Rai, Mae Hong Son and Pai are very wonderful destination for October and still with a minimum of tourists.

Northeast Thailand - Isan

The northeast is much drier in October, especially its eastern part. Temperatures are at 22°C at night and 31°C during the day. The end of the rainy season is marked by an air that is no longer oppressive and a beautifying sunshine, which approaches in November. There is possibility of short showers every 3 days.

Southern Thailand - East Coast

October allows many lovers of a quiet and secluded vacation to enjoy the charm of half-empty beaches and hotels, but at the same time there is still a high probability of strong tropical showers and thunderstorms. This month brings heavy rainfall to most of the eastern part of Southern Thailand. Koh Tao still has quite average weather, while Koh Samui and Koh Phangan have more rainfall than in previous months. There is generally a little more rainfall on the islands than on the mainland. Precipitation about 20 days a month and temperatures around 30°C. October is the second wettest month of the year. You will encounter the rain during your trip so bring appropriate clothing. It is better to plan a trip further north on the Gulf coast.

Southern Thailand - West Coast

The monsoons are still there in October and it's also just raining on the Andaman coast but the volume will be smaller than in September. However, even in this case, do not expect all-day rain. The temperatures are 24°C at night and 31°C during the day. With the warm sea temperature, you can enjoy scuba diving, enjoying the extraordinary beauty of the underwater world. The humidity is at its maximum in Phuket and Koh Lanta with an oppressive air.

As the end of the rainy season is approaching in the Andaman Sea, you may be lucky and experience some sunny days on Koh Lanta, Koh Phi Phi, Phuket or Koh Lipe. However, island ferries are not yet operating fully in October as sometimes a storm can become an obstacle on the way of a ferry from one of the islands to the mainland. In addition, national parks such as the Similan Islands and Koh Tarutao Islands are also closed in October.
