Visiting Madame Tussauds & SEA LIFE Ocean World in Bangkok

Plenty of family friendly attractions can be found in Bangkok. The Madame Tussauds Bangkok wax museum and SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World aquarium are two of Bangkok’s highlights that can be visited on the same day with a combo ticket.

Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds Bangkok is a local branch of the most famous wax museum in the world. As this was our first visit to the museum of this kind, we were really not aware of what can be expected at Madame Tussauds but we were positively surprised of what this museum in Bangkok has to offer.

The Exhibition

The exhibition of Madame Tussauds Bangkok is arranged by different themed rooms including Historical Figures, Influential Leaders, Famous Scientists & Artists, Sport Legends, Pop & Rock Musicians, Movie Stars, Bollywood Stars, Asian Celebrities, and Hollywood Stars.

The hall of Historical Figures includes historically significant people such as Princess Diana, Mahatma Gandhi and Mao Zedoung.

The round table of Influential Leaders’ hall is surrounded by important political figures like Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin and Queen Elizabeth II.

The hall of Famous Scientists & Artists brings you closer to the scientific and artistic talents of their time such as Pablo Picasso, Albert Einstein and even a founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg.

The list of Sport Legends at the museum includes a number of football players with Cristiano Ronaldo in front of them, Tiger Woods and Yao Ming.

Madame Tussauds Bangkok

The hall of Pop & Rock Stars at Madame Tussauds Bangkok boasts big names such as Madonna, Michael Jackson and Beyonce Knowles.

Madame Tussauds Bangkok

The list of Movie Stars at Madame Tussauds Bangkok is not long but impressive with Hugh Jackman, Bruce Lee and even Spiderman.

Our Indian friends will be welcomed by the group of Bollywood Stars including Shah Rukh Khan, Prabhas and Hrithik Poshan.

If you’re not from Asia, you might be unfamiliar with faces you will see at Asian Celebrities’ hall with the exception of one guy - Jackie Chan.

Madame Tussauds Bangkok

And last but not least is the hall of Hollywood Stars. The selection of stars at Madame Tussauds Bangkok is worth the red carpet of Oscars as here you will meet Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and few others.

Madame Tussauds Bangkok

Some of the wax figures at Madame Tussauds Bangkok look realistic and quite alive but others didn't look as real as it could be expected. Not all the famous people we saw at Madame Tussauds Bangkok were familiar to us but there were boards with the name and short description of the person.

Photos & Activities

The photo opportunities at Madame Tussauds Bangkok are provided in such a way that you can interact with celebrities. They even provide costumes and accessories for your creative picture shots.

There are also fun activities nearby as you can shoot a basketball with Yao Ming or take a quiz with Albert Einstein. These activities will keep you and your kids entertained!

Waxworks

At the end of the exhibition, there is a gallery of waxworks showing the process of making wax sculptures and even a figure of Madame Tussauds.

Here you can also get a wax casting of your own hand and bring this nice souvenir back home.

4D cinema

The last part of the visit to Madame Tussauds Bangkok was 4D cinema with a 9-minute short “Ice Age” film. During the movie, you will enjoy unexpected features such as light water splashes, shaken seats, air shoots out and the snowflakes falling down, all of them making the ice age atmosphere so realistic.

Madame Tussauds Bangkok

After spending about 1.5 hours at Madame Tussauds, we headed to another attraction offered by combo ticket - SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World. Even if they say that it takes only 5 minutes of walking between the two attractions, expect to spend more as only getting down to the first level of Siam Discovery might take about that time.

SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World

A visit to SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World was the second part of our Madame Tussauds and SEA LIFE Ocean World combo ticket. SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World offers an amazing underwater adventure in Bangkok. The aquarium is large and full of beautiful sea life. There’s also tons of interesting information on display. We were really surprised of how nice the place is.

SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World

The Aquarium

As you walk into the aquarium, you will see the large variety of sea creatures. The aquarium is divided into multiple zones showing different types of marine habitats.

The Giant Spider Crab and Giant Pacific Octopus were the first to welcome us in their Rocky Hideout. Next is the Coral Reef with colorful fish such as Nemo and Dory.

SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World

Various species of seahorses rule the Seahorse Kingdom, gripping onto seaweeds or corals with their tails.

SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World

The Tropical Rainforest is surrounded by jungle, waterfall and pools. Here you can get a closer look at the giant freshwater fish, various tropical frogs, snakes and adorable sea otters.

SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World

The 8-metre-high tank of Tropical Ocean has a very nice collection of marine life.

SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World

The highlight of SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World is the Ocean Tunnel bringing you close to the big sea life and letting you see different kinds of sharks and other big fish from a different angle.

SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World

The aquarium tanks and displays at SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World are fantastic. One of our favorite is the large man-made shipwreck tank.

SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World

The jellyfish display was amazing. The illumination makes them look like they would be from another world. Perfect place for relaxing.

SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World

Seeing the penguins at SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World was quite unexpected even if there were only a couple of them swimming around the Penguin Ice Adventure.

SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World

The educational information is well presented on the boards describing the different creatures. There are also a few fun interactive activities throughout the aquarium. Here you can touch the starfish and other sea creatures or play the treasure hunting game.

Our Experience

Madame Tussauds Bangkok

We were pleasantly impressed by our experience at Madame Tussauds Bangkok as it’s more than just a wax museum. We enjoyed following the trail through all the different themed rooms and having fun by taking photos with our favorite characters. The whole attraction is very enjoyable.

Madame Tussauds Bangkok

We would definitely recommend Madame Tussauds Bangkok for the fans of celebrities, movie stars or athletes. If you are selfie-addicted or just love posting photos on social media, this place is a paradise. Others might find the museum less attractive but still interesting.

SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World

We enjoyed walking around and exploring the aquarium of SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World. We loved the ambience giving a feeling as if we are in the deep blue ocean.

We would highly recommend visiting this aquarium for everyone, especially families with kids as here they will find plenty of interesting and fun activities that will keep them occupied and engaged.

SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World

The only problem we experienced was quite a big number of visitors, most probably because we’ve been visiting the aquarium on weekend afternoon. We would suggest avoid going there on weekends and come earlier in the morning if possible.
