Thailand visa for Chinese is not required for short term visit to Thailand. If you're Chinese citizen and hold a passport valid for at least 6 months from the day of your arrival to Thailand, you can visit Thailand on a Free Visa Exemption as long as your planned stay in Thailand doesn't exceed 60 days.

Thailand Visa Exemption for Chinese

Citizens of China can stay in Thailand without a visa for up to 60 days if arriving at the airport. When entering Thailand through the land border crossings from LaosMyanmarCambodia or Malaysia, Chinese can get a free visa-exempt stay for 60 days too but the number of times you can use visa exemption when crossing by land during the year is limited.

As a citizen of China you can use Thailand Free Visa-Exempt Stay if you have the following:

  • Chinese citizen passport valid for at least 6 months from the day of your arrival
  • A return or onward travel ticket within 60 days
  • Dully filled-in Thailand Arrival Card (currently required only when arriving by land or by sea)
  • A proof of funds - at least 20,000 THB per person and 40,000 THB per family in cash (equivalent in any currency)

Thailand Tourist Visa for Chinese Citizens

Depending on the duration and purpose of your visit, you might need to get another type of Thailand Visa in advance. As a tourist, you mainly have two Thailand Visa options to choose from - Single-Entry Tourist Visa or Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa.

In China you can apply for Thailand visa at Royal Thai Embassy in Beijing or your local Thai Consulate in China.

Application for Thailand visa in China is processed online via Thailand E-Visa Website.

Thai Single-Entry Tourist Visa for Chinese Citizens

Single-Entry Tourist Visa is valid for entering Thailand once within 3 months from the date of application. The period of stay is 60 days maximum (starting from the day you enter Thailand). Thai Single-Entry Tourist Visa can be applied for at any Thai embassy or consulate worldwide so for Chinese it's not mandatory to apply for Thai visa in China. Keep in mind that Thai embassies and consulates close on public Thai holidays and the public holidays of the country they are in, so plan your visit there accordingly.

When applying for Thai Single-Entry Tourist Visa in China you will need:

  1. Passport valid for at least 6 months from the day of your arrival.
  2. Appropriate passport type photo taken within the last six months.
  3. ticket for your journey to Thailand and return / onward journey ticket for leaving Thailand within 60 days. 
  4. Proof of accommodation - confirmed hotel booking (at least for the first night in Thailand). Book your hotel on Booking.com or Agoda as bookings on these online platforms are usually accepted with no problem.
  5. Financial evidence with more than equivalence of 5,000 CNY, e.g. bank statements for at least 3 months.
  6. Visa fee - 240 CNY.

Thailand visa for Chinese citizens can also be issued by Thai Embassies and Thai Consulates in other countries, such as LaosMalaysiaSingaporeIndonesia etc.

Thailand Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa for Chinese

Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa is valid for entering Thailand within 6 months from the date of application. The period of stay is 60 days maximum per stay. You may enter Thailand again as long as the visa is still valid. Chinese citizens can apply for Thailand Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa only at Thai Embassy or Consulate in China. Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa for Chinese costs 1,200 CNY.

When applying for Thai Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa you will need:

  1. Passport valid for at least 1 year from the day of application.
  2. Appropriate passport type photo taken within the last six months.
  3. ticket to Thailand and return / onward journey ticket for leaving Thailand within 60 days (for all intended travel in and out of Thailand).
  4. Proof of accommodation in Thailand. Book your hotel on Booking.com or Agoda as bookings on these online platforms are usually accepted with no problem.
  5. Financial evidence with more than equivalence of 15,000 CNY, e.g. bank statements for at least 3 months.
  6. Medical insurance covering period of 8 months with medical claims for outpatient must not less than 10,000 CNY, for inpatient must not less than 100,000 CNY.
  7. Document that can verify current residency, e.g. valid resident permit page from the passport.
  8. Visa fee - 1,200 CNY.

Tips
