Thailand visa for Latvians is not needed since 14 April 2019, as the Free Visa-Exempt Stay allowing to visit Thailand for up to 60 days became available to Latvian citizens. For longer trips to the country, Thailand Visa for Latvia passport holders is still needed to get in advance from Thai embassy or consulate.

Thailand visa exemption giving the right to visit Thailand visa free for up to 60 days was granted to Latvia. Starting from 14 April 2019, citizens of Latvia no longer need to apply for Visa on Arrival and are given visa free entry to Thailand.

Thailand Visa Exemption for Latvian Citizens

Starting from 15 July 2024, citizens of Latvia can stay in Thailand without a visa for up to 60 days if arriving at the airport. When entering Thailand through the land border crossings from Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia or Malaysia, Latvian citizens can stay in Thailand visa-free for 60 days too but the number of times you can use visa exemption when crossing by land during the year is limited.

As a citizen of Latvia you can use Thailand Free Visa-Exempt Stay if you have the following:

  • Passport issued by the Republic of Latvia which must be valid for at least 6 months from the day of your arrival
  • A return or onward travel ticket for leaving Thailand within 60 days
  • Dully filled-in Thailand Arrival Card (currently only required when arriving by land or by sea)
  • A proof of funds - at least 20,000 THB per person and 40,000 THB per family in cash (can be equivalent amount of cash in Euro)

Thailand Tourist Visa for Latvia Passport

Depending on the duration and purpose of your visit, you might need to get another type of Thailand Visa in advance. As a tourist, you can get a Single-Entry Tourist Visa or Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa.

In Latvia you can apply for Thailand visa at Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden. Currently application for Thailand visa in Latvia is processed online via Thailand E-Visa Website.

Thailand Single-Entry Tourist Visa for Latvia

Single-Entry Tourist Visa is valid for entering Thailand once within 3 months from the date of application. The allowed period of stay is 60 days which can also be extended for 30 days once. Thai Single-Entry Tourist Visa can be applied for at Thai embassies or consulates worldwide.

When applying for Thai Single-Entry Tourist Visa in Latvia you need:

  1. Passport valid for at least 6 months from the day of your arrival.
  2. Appropriate passport type photo taken within the last six months.
  3. Visa declaration that must be downloaded and signed.
  4. ticket for your journey to Thailand and return / onward journey ticket for leaving Thailand within 60 days.
  5. Proof of accommodation - confirmed hotel booking (at least for the first night in Thailand). Book your hotel on Booking.com or Agoda as bookings on these online platforms are usually accepted with no problem.
  6. Visa fee - 350 SEK.

Thailand visa for citizens of Latvia can also be issued by Thai embassies and consulates in other countries, such as LaosMalaysiaSingaporeIndonesia, so you can get your visa during your travel.

Thailand Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa for Latvia

Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa is valid for entering Thailand within 6 months from the date of application. The period of stay is 60 days maximum per stay. You may enter Thailand again as long as the visa is still valid. Latvian citizens can apply for Thailand Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa only at Thai Embassy in Stockholm.

When applying for Thai Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa from Latvia you will need:

  1. Passport valid for at least 1 year from the day of application.
  2. Appropriate passport type photo taken within the last six months.
  3. Visa declaration that must be downloaded and signed.
  4. ticket for your first journey to Thailand and return / onward journey ticket for leaving Thailand within 60 days.
  5. Proof of accommodation in Thailand for the first visit. Book your hotel on Booking.com or Agoda as bookings on these online platforms are usually accepted with no problem.
  6. Visa fee - 1,750 SEK.

Additional documents such as proof of funds for traveling might also be required.

Tips
