Most of tourists come there via Saigon and there are several ways how to get from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne, Phan Thiet.

Mui Ne is situated about 200 km east of Ho Chi Minh City. The journey from Saigon to Mui Ne is easy as in 2005 the highway system between the two cities was opened, helping to shorten the travel time of this journey. The travel time is about 4 hours or even faster, depending on the transportation used and traffic conditions. There are several means of transportation that can be used for traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet and Mui Ne.

Bus from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne

Taking a bus from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne is the most popular way to travel between Vietnam’s largest city and the beach town. Most of people prefer buses when traveling to Mui Ne because of the flexibility and affordable price.

There are plenty of high-quality open-tour bus companies serving the route Ho Chi Minh City - Phan Thiet - Mui Ne. Traveling from Saigon to Mui Ne by bus normally takes about 4-5 hours.

Most of buses serving this route depart from Ho Chi Minh City’s Eastern Bus Station or Pham Ngu Lao Street and stop at Ham Tien and Mui Ne areas. However, don’t forget to check the pick-up and drop-off points of the bus because some buses terminate in Phan Thiet city which is quite far from Mui Ne and you might need to travel about 10-20 km more, depending on the location of your hotel. You would need to hire a taxi to your destination or try to catch the public bus passing the route.

If you want to go to the center of Phan Thiet city, choose Kumho Samco bus. This company will bring you to Phan Thiet Bus Station or transfer you directly to the resort or hotel if required.

If you want to go to Mui Ne area, choose Sinh Tourist, Hanh Cafe, Futa Bus or Tan Hanh Travel Bus, as these buses will take you directly to your resort or hotel in Mui Ne.

Train from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne

Taking a train from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne is another affordable for traveling between these popular destinations. Vietnam's trains are very safe, convenient and not expensive. However, you will not be able to reach Mui Ne by train directly from Ho Chi Minh City.

The train departs from Saigon Railway Station and stops at Phan Thiet Railway Station, which is located in Phan Thiet city. Then you will need to take a public bus or taxi to get to Mui Ne area. On the train they are normally selling bus tickets for a trip from the station to resorts in Mui Ne for 30,000 VND per person. Another option is taking a train from Saigon to Binh Thuan Railway Station (Muong Man Railway Station) but it’s hardly worth it because this railway station is further away from Phan Thiet.

There are 2 trains running from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet and vice versa. The first class carriages on the train are called "Golden Train" and offer additional comfort, cleanness and space. The other part of the train belongs to Vietnam Railways and is popular between local people. Train ticket prices vary from 160,000 VND to 350,000 VND per person.

There is only one train from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne that is available daily. The number of the train departing from Saigon Railway Station is SPT2 and from Phan Thiet Railway Station is SPT1.

Another option for traveling on this route is taking SPT4 train from Saigon Railway Station or SPT3 from Phan Thiet Railway Station. However, this train is available on selected days only and its timetable might differ.

Taxi from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne

Taking a taxi from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne is also possible and used by many tourists because of the convenience. However, we are not recommending this option as it is the most expensive way to travel to Mui Ne. The distance between Ho Chi Minh City and Mui Ne is about 220 km and for long distance routes taxi might charge as much as 13,600-17,000 VND per 1 km. if you will decide to travel this way, choose one of the reputable taxi companies such as Mai Linh or Vinasun Taxi to lower the risk of being overcharged.

Private Transfer from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne

Booking a private transfer from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne is actually a better option than taking a taxi. Private transfer rates in Vietnam in general are relatively low so it can be very practical when traveling with your family or group of friends. When using a private transfer, you don't have to go to pick-up point or to worry about transferring to your accommodation in Mui Ne, as the driver will pick you up from the hotel or airport in Saigon and drive you directly to your hotel in Mui Ne. Limousine from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne

Another way to travel between Ho Chi Minh City and Mui Ne is taking a limousine, which is a luxury van offering better service than the bus. Car or motorbike from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne

Traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne by a private car or motorbike is suitable for people who are looking for adventures and love challenges. The most important thing is that you have to be a good driver and dare to drive in Vietnamese traffic. Motorbikes can be easily rented in Ho Chi Minh City and normally cost around 100,000-150,000 VND per day.

If you will travel from Saigon to Mui Ne by a car or motorbike, you can choose one of the following two routes.

Route 1: Start from Ho Chi Minh City, drive through Binh Lau, La Gi then to Mui Ke Ga in the territory of Binh Thuan province. From here you should continue driving to Phan Thiet city center. The road is quite nice and easy to go with beautiful scenery on both sides of the road. The length of this route is 242 km, which is quite long but suitable for those who want to go on a trip and discover new places. On the way you can stop to admire the scenery and visit attractions such as Mui Ke Ga. However, pay attention to filling up your tank before heading the road because there are quite long distances without any gas station.

Route2: Start from Ho Chi Minh City and drive along Highway 1A through the territory of Binh Thuan province, then turn left to get to Suoi Cat junction, into the center of Phan Thiet city. From here, you continue to travel along the provincial road 706 to reach Mui Ne. The total distance is about 209 km. Compared to the first one, the route is straight, flat so quite easy to drive and you not need to worry about filling up your tank because there are many gas stations and car repair shops on the way.

How to get from Hanoi to Mui Ne

The distance from Hanoi to Mui Ne is 1510 km. If traveling by land, the journey can take up to 30 hours. There are no direct flights from Hanoi to Mui Ne, so you need to book a flight from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City and continue to take a bus, train or another mean of transportation.
