Airport Bus 109 is currently the best public transportation option for tourists traveling from Ho Chi Minh Airport to the city center. Bus 109 departs from Tan Son Nhat Airport, runs directly to District 1, and ends the journey at Saigon Bus Station, which is located next to 23/9 Park and the backpacker district. Traveling on this bus is less time-consuming than taking another public bus because there are fewer stops on the route.
Bus 109 Ho Chi Minh has stopped operating during the Covid-19 outbreak and only reopened in September 2022.
Buses previously used on this route were spacious, but after reopening the bus 109 route is served by minibuses, meaning that now the bus is not suitable to travel with big luggage. Passengers are now only allowed to carry 10 kg of luggage and occupy an area of 30x40x60 cm. In case passengers carry luggage weighing more than 10 kg and occupying an area of more than 30x40x60 cm, they must buy an additional ticket.

Saigon Bus Station
If you are staying in Ho Chi Minh City’s backpacker district, boarding Bus 109 at Saigon Bus Station might be the most convenient option, as you won’t need to worry about missing the bus. Saigon Bus 109 starts its route at the bus station next to 23/9 Park, so you can just go there to take the bus.
