How to go to Chaengwattana Immigration
To get to Chaengwattana Immigration Office Bangkok from different areas of the city, you can choose a taxi, skytrains, metro, bus, or minivan. However, when using public transportation, in most cases you will need to transfer at least once.
1. Taxi to Chaengwattana Immigration Office
A Bangkok taxi is the most convenient way to go to the Bangkok Immigration Office. We personally recommend going there by taxi if you are not familiar with the public transportation system in Bangkok. If you are staying in the center of Bangkok, such as the Sukhumvit Area, the trip by taxi to the Bangkok Immigration Office should cost you about 250-300 THB.
Keep in mind that the immigration building is located in a huge government complex. Make sure the taxi is dropping you in front of Building B, NOT in front of the complex; otherwise, you will have to take a shuttle bus, motorcycle taxi, or walk for about 1.4 km.
If the driver does not know where the specific location is, just use Google Maps to navigate to the "Immigration Bureau" (or Immigration Bangkok). Thai people call it “TOR MOR” (ตม.), which means “Immigration”.

You can also take the BTS Skytrain to Wat Phra Sri Mahathat Station or the SRT Red Line commuter train to Lak Si Station, and from there take a taxi to the immigration office. The trip by taxi should cost about 50-100 THB.
2. SkyTrain to Chaengwattana Immigration Office
After the recent opening of the MRT Pink Line, the Chaengwattana Immigration Office can be reached by skytrain, as the Government Complex MRT station is located next to the Government Complex Chaengwattana. However, from the station to Building B, you will have to take a shuttle bus, motorcycle taxi, or walk for about 1.4 km.
The MRT Pink Line is connected with the BTS Green Line and the SRT Red Line, so you need to transfer to get to the Immigration Office in Bangkok. To simplify your trip to Chaengwattana Immigration Office, you can consider taking a taxi right from the SRT or BTS station to get to the door of the Bangkok Immigration Office without a long walk or another transfer inside the Government Complex. SRT Dark Red Line
Lak Si Station: You can take the SRT Red Line commuter train to Lak Si Station and transfer to the MRT Pink Line station of the same name located nearby. Government Complex MRT Station is 2 stops from Lak Si MRT Station. Otherwise, you can get out at Exit 3 (local road, opposite IT Square Building) and take a taxi from there for about 5-10 minutes. The taxi from Lak Si Station to Chaengwattana Immigration should cost about 50-70 THB.
BTS Green Line
Wat Phra Sri Mahathat Station: You can take the BTS SkyTrain to Wat Phra Sri Mahathat Station and transfer to the MRT Pink Line station of the same name located nearby. Government Complex MRT Station is 2 stops from Wat Phra Sri Mahathat Station MRT Station. Otherwise, you can get out at Exit 1 (on the side of Wat Phra Sri Mahathat temple) and take a taxi for about 10-15 minutes. The taxi from Wat Phra Sri Mahathat Station to Bangkok Immigration Office should cost about 70-100 THB.
3. Metro to Chaengwattana Immigration Office
Chatuchak Park Station: You can take the MRT metro to Chatuchak Park Station. From there, you can take a taxi for about 20-25 minutes. The taxi from Chatuchak Park Station to the immigration should cost about 100-120 THB. Or you can go to Bang Sue MRT station on the MRT Blue Line and transfer there to the SRT Dark Red Line to continue the trip to Lak Si station as described above.
You can also take the Pak Kret minivan from there. You can recognize the minivan by the following sign: ต 10 “จตุจักร - ปากเกร็ด”. The minivan costs 30 THB. The minivan will drop you on Chaeng Wattana Road; you can walk 100 meters to the entrance of the Government Complex. From there, you can take the shuttle bus for free and stop at the entrance to Building B.
4. Bus to Chaengwattana Immigration Office
If you are looking for how to go to Chaengwattana Immigration by spending the least money you can, consider taking a public bus. Bangkok bus routes that pass the Immigration Office at Chaengwattana:
- Bus No. 66 from Sai Tai Mai (Taling Chan) to Government Complex.
- Bus No. 166 from Victory Monument on Phaholyothin Island (in front of Government Savings Bank) to Government Complex.
You need to get off the bus in front of the entrance of Government Complex Chaengwattana and walk, take a free shuttle bus, or take a motorcycle taxi for 10 THB to Building B.
5. Minivan to Chaengwattana Immigration Office
There are many minivan routes passing the Government Complex:
- 10: Mo Chit – Pak Kret
- 11: The Mall Ngamwongwan - Pak Kret
- 22: Minburi - Pak Kret
- 26: RAMA IX - Pak Kret
- 27: MBK Center - Pak Kret
- 64: Victory Monument - Pak Kret
- 82: Victory Monument - Saphan Mai
- 95: Ramkhamhaeng University – Ram Intra
- 97: Ramkhamhaeng University - Pak Kret
- 98: Ramkhamhaeng University – DON MUEANG
- 102: The Royal Field (Sanam Luang) – Pak Kret Pier
The most popular is the minivan No. 10, which can be taken from Mo Chit BTS Station. The minibus stops near the bus stop for the Don Muang airport shuttle (A2). When you come down the stairs from the BTS on the park side and turn right, there is a queue of buses and minivans. You can recognize the minivans by the following sign: ต 10 “จตุจักร - ปากเกร็ด”. You can tell them that you will drop off at “Chaengwattana Soi 7”. The minivan costs 30 THB; you pay it when you get out.
When you arrive on Chaeng Wattana Road, get off the van at the bus stop in front of the CAT tower. Then walk into Chaengwattana Soi 7 for about 100 meters to take a shuttle bus to the Government Complex. There are also motorbike taxis available for 10 THB that will bring you straight to the immigration, if you wish.
On the way back, just cross the road over the pedestrian bridge and take a van or bus No. 52 at the bus stop to Mo Chit BTS Station.
Remark: Lately the minivans were moved out from the Mo Chit BTS Station area to the back side of the park, not too far from the entrance to Chatuchak Weekend Market.
6. How to go to Chaengwattana Immigration by Car
You can easily drive to Chaeng Wattana Road (Soi 7). When you pass TOT and CAT, turn left into Chaeng Wattana Soi 7. After 1 km drive, you will see the Government Complex, B Building on the right. You can drive up to the stop on the 2nd floor and walk through the South Entrance to the Immigration Office.

Building B of Chaengwattana Government Complex
The Building B of Chaengwattana Government Complex has a modern architectural style. The building itself is spacious, but it is difficult to get lost inside of it. There you will find everything you need for issuing a visa or extending it.
On the ground floor, there is a photocopy and photo shop, where you can get the necessary copies of your documents for a few baht and make document photos if you don’t have them. There are also banks and several cafes in the basement. Sometimes, in this area the market is also organized, where you can spend time if you need to wait for the immigration to be opened.
Immigration Office Bangkok
Immigration Office Bangkok is located on the first floor near Gate 2 of the Government Complex B building. There are plenty of staff to inform you about the documents required and to get a ticket for the queue. Once you get your number, you have to be patient and wait until your number appears on the display board and submit your application.

Chaengwattana Immigration opening hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:30 to 16:30, and the lunch break is from 12:00 to 13:00. Closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
Attention! The opening times and break times are strictly observed. When it’s noon, the light is switched off, and everyone has to leave the waiting room. Make sure to get there early in the morning or in the afternoon right after lunch to avoid waiting during their lunch break.
