Songkran Festival

What is Songkran Festival?

Songkran is the traditional Thai New Year festival according to the Buddhist/Hindu solar calendar. It’s held annually from the 13th to 15th of April. In some areas they start to celebrate Songkran even earlier and the celebration goes on for whole week. During Songkran Thai families get together, make merit at the temples and pay respect to the elders for the blessing. More well-known side of Songkran is a three-day long water fight throughout the whole country.
