Cat Ba Bus 14 from Cat Ba Town to Cai Vieng Ferry Pier

Cat Ba Bus 14 is one of the main Haiphong bus routes currently operating in Haiphong Province. If you want to use public transportation for getting from Cat Bi Airport (HPH) to Cat Ba Island, you can use other public bus routes to get into the city, change to Haiphong Bus 16C and then after crossing to the island use Cat Ba Bus 14 for getting into the town, where most of Cat Ba Island visitors are ending.

Taking a public bus might be not the most comfortable option, as the leg room on the bus is really limited and traveling with bulk luggage might be problematic.

The length of the bus route is 27 km and it can take about 1 hour for the bus to cover the entire route from Cai Vieng Ferry Terminal to Cat Ba Town or vice versa.

Cat Ba Bus 14 can be used for traveling to Cat Ba Town from Haiphong in any way, as the route reaches the main town of the island from Cat Ba Cable Car station and from the ferry pier, where ferries from Cat Hai Island were moved recently. Therefore, you can choose to take the cable car (faster and better views) or the ferry (cheaper and more frequent) for reaching the mainland from the island.

On another side, you can use Haiphong Bus 16C for getting from the ferry terminal or cable car station to Haiphong, which is the main city of the region with Cat Bi Airport (HPH) next to it.

Tickets for Cat Ba Bus 14 can be bought for cash on board the bus. Bus ticket price is 13,000 VND per person. Children under 6 years old should be traveling for free.

Cat Ba Bus 14 Timetable

The bus operating hours are the following:

  • from Cat Ba Town: from 05:10 to 18:00, daily
  • from Cai Vieng Ferry Terminal: from 06:00 to 19:00, daily

There are normally 20 bus departures in each direction and buses depart every 35 minutes. However, on public holidays, when the number of travelers increases significantly, bus departure schedule might be updated and departures can get more frequent.

The journey from Cat Ba Town to the ferry pier by bus can take up to 1 hour, as the bus makes many stops on the way.

For the direction from the ferry port to Cat Ba Town, the bus departures are from Cai Vieng Ferry Terminal, where ferries from Cat Hai Island arrive. Cat Ba Cable Car station is the next bus stop after the ferry pier so departures from there should be just a couple of minutes later.
