Changes to Bangkok public transport operational hours are planned on New Year's Eve 2025 for the convenience of tourists and locals counting down at various popular locations in Bangkok. Free parking at the airports of the city will also be offered for travelers, as well as an exemption of some highway toll fees at the end of 2024 and the start of 2025.
Bangkok City Trains on New Year's Eve
All the main Bangkok city train systems are going to extend their operational hours by 2 hours on New Year's Eve 2025 to serve the passengers celebrating New Year in Bangkok.
Bangkok MRT on New Year's Eve
Bangkok MRT joins in celebrating the New Year 2025 by extending the service hours until 02:00 on 1 January 2025.
Operators of the MRT Blue Line and Purple Line will participate in the celebration of the end of the old year and welcoming the New Year 2025 by extending the operating hours of the entire MRT Blue Line and Purple Line. Both lines will stay open for service from 06:00 on 31 December 2024 until 02:00 on 1 January 2025 to facilitate passengers traveling during the New Year festival along the electric train route and to encourage people to travel by public transport.
In addition, parking fees will be waived. The service hours of the MRT park-and-ride buildings and lots will be extended from 05:00 on 31 December 2024 to 01:00 on 2 January 2025 to encourage people to use public transport to celebrate the New Year 2025 by parking their personal cars and continuing their journey by electric train. People can park their cars at the park-and-ride buildings and lots as follows:
- MRT Blue Line consists of 4 park-and-ride buildings at Lat Phrao Station, Thailand Cultural Center Station, and Lak Song Station (2 buildings) and 11 park and ride lots at Kamphaeng Phet Station, Ratchadaphisek Station, Huai Khwang Station, Thailand Cultural Center Station (2 lots), Phra Ram 9 Station, Phetchaburi Station, Sukhumvit Station, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center Station (2 lots), and Sam Yan Station.
- MRT Purple Line consists of 4 park-and-ride buildings at Khlong Bang Phai Station, Sam Yaek Bang Yai Station, and Bang Rak Noi Tha It Station and Nonthaburi 1 Intersection Station.
Bangkok BTS on New Year's Eve
Welcoming the New Year 2025, Bangkok BTS Skytrain extends service hours on New Year's Eve until 02:00 on 1 January 2025.
On the occasion of the happy festival of bidding farewell to the old year and welcoming the New Year 2025, the company operating BTS and Gold Line is going to extend service hours for all BTS Skytrain stations on both the Sukhumvit Line and the Silom Line, including the Gold Line, on the night of 31 December 2024 until 02:00 on 1 January 2025. The last BTS train will depart from the originating station at 02:00, and the last train to depart from Siam Station to all stations will be at 02:45. The Park and Ride lot (Mo Chit Station) will be open from 05:00 on 31 December 2024 to 01:00 on 2 January 2025 to facilitate users traveling to participate in activities, socialize, or watch the fireworks on New Year's Eve. Cars and motorcycles can park for free!
Passengers traveling by BTS Skytrain can travel with various types of tickets, including Rabbit Card or Single Journey Ticket. For convenience and speed in traveling, use a Rabbit card with enough value for the trip or buy a one-way return ticket in advance. BTS Gold Line will also extend the service hours on New Year's Eve, 31 December 2024, by 2 hours. The last train from the station next to ICONSIAM will depart at 02:25 on 1 January 2025.

Airport Rail Link on New Year's Eve
The operating hours of the Airport Rail Link train that is running between Suvarnabhumi Airport and Phaya Thai station in Bangkok city center will also be extended on New Year’s Eve, as the airport train will operate from 05:10 on 31 December 2024 until 02:00 on 1 January 2025.
SRT Red Line on New Year's Eve
The Bangkok Red Line suburban electric train system is joining the celebration of the New Year Festival by offering all passengers extended service hours on the night of 31 December 2024, as the line will operate until 02:00 of 1 January 2025.
For the New Year festival, a special gift, herbal inhalers, Red Line brand, will be prepared as a gift to welcome the New Year. 2,568 pieces will be gifted to passengers on 1 January 2025 at the ticket offices from 05:30 until the stock runs out.
MRT Yellow Line on New Year's Eve
On the occasion of the happy festival of bidding farewell to the old year and welcoming the New Year 2025, MRT Yellow Line extends the operating hours at every station on 31 December 2024 to 02:00 on 1 January 2025. The last train will depart from the originating station at 02:00. For the last train schedule from the specific station, you can check at The SKYTRAINs application or ticket offices at every station. To reach any of the stations on the BTS Green Line by connecting at Samrong station, you should take the MRT Yellow Line train that departs from Lat Phrao (YL01) at 01:15.

MRT Pink Line on New Year's Eve
To welcome the New Year 2025, MRT Pink Line will also extend the operating hours at every station on 31 December 2024 to 02:00 on 1 January 2025. The last train will depart from the originating station at 02:00. For the last train schedule from the specific station, you can check at The SKYTRAINs application or ticket offices at every station. To reach any of the stations on the BTS Green Line by connecting at Wat Phra Sri Mahathat station, you should take the MRT Pink Line train that departs from Nonthaburi Civic Center (PK01) or Min Buri (PK30) at 01:30.

Bangkok Bus on New Year's Eve
On the night of 31 December 2024, the frequency of Bangkok buses will be increased, and the operating time should be extended on the routes passing popular spots where the countdown to New Year 2025 party will be held, such as CentralWorld, ICONSIAM, Mega Bangna, and Asiatique.
Bangkok Airports during New Year
Airports of Thailand (AOT) will provide free parking areas at both Bangkok airports as a New Year gift.
BKK Airport during New Year
Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is waiving parking fees at Long Term Parking, Zone C. Passengers and users can park their cars for free starting at 00:01 on 28 December 2024 until 24:00 on 1 January 2025 in order to facilitate the increased travel of passengers and service users during the New Year 2024 holiday.
The airport has arranged a shuttle bus, Line A, to provide pick-up and drop-off services to facilitate passengers and users. The shuttle bus will be running between the long-term parking Zone C and the passenger terminal 24 hours a day and free of charge.
The airport representatives ask for cooperation from passengers with a suggestion for passengers traveling on international outbound flights to allow approximately 3 hours before departure and for domestic outbound flights to allow approximately 2 hours before departure.
DMK Airport during New Year
Don Mueang Airport (DMK) will also provide a free parking space between Warehouse Building 2 and the 5-story car parking building, which can accommodate 250 cars. Passengers and users can park their cars for free from 00:01 on 28 December 2024 to 24:00 on 1 January 2025 to facilitate the New Year Festival.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has prepared vehicles to provide pick-up and drop-off service for passengers and service users using the parking lot between Warehouse Building 2 and the 5-story car parking building, with the service running every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day, and free of charge. The shuttle route will start from the front of the 5-story parking building and will run to Gate 6 of the International Passenger Terminal, Building 1.
The airport asks for cooperation from passengers to allow extra time for traveling to the airport. For domestic flights you should allow at least 2 hours before travel, and for international flights you should allow at least 3 hours before travelling.
Car Travel during New Year
During the New Year festival, many people return to their hometowns. As a result, traffic congestion is expected on all roads that lead to/from Bangkok and its surrounding provinces. The exemption of toll fees during New Year is expected to help make traffic lighter and encourage people to travel more conveniently and quickly.
This New Year, the Department of Highways will open for the public to try out the routes and drive for free on the following 5 routes:
- Special expressway, Bangkok – Chonburi – Pattaya – Map Ta Phut (M7)
- Special expressway, Bang Pa-in – Bang Phli (M9)
- Special expressway, Phra Pradaeng – Bang Khun Thian (M9)
- Special expressway, Bang Pa-in – Nakhon Ratchasima (M6), only Pak Chong section – Nakhon Ratchasima bypass
- Special expressway, Bang Yai – Kanchanaburi (M81) throughout the route (except Nakhon Chai Si checkpoint and Si Sathong checkpoint)
The tollway fee will be exempted from 00:01 on 26 December 2024 to 24:00 on 2 January 2025, a total of 8 days.
