Bangkok Train Station is the railway station used for traveling domestically from Bangkok to other areas of the country. The railway station is operated by the State Railway of Thailand (SRT). Bangkok Train Station is locally known as Hua Lamphong Railway Station. It is located in the center of the Pathum Wan District, Hua Lamphong area close to Chinatown.

After the opening of Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal station, only few train lines depart from Hua Lamphong Railway Station. If you are planning to continue your Thailand trip by train right after landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport, in some cases you might still need to get to Hua Lamphong Railway Station.

How to get from Bangkok Airport to Hua Lamphong Train Station

You basically have two best choices for getting from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) to Hua Lamphong Train Station:

  • Train – cheaper way;
  • Taxi or Private transfer – more comfortable way.

Train from Bangkok Airport to Hua Lamphong Train Station

Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is connected to the city by airport train, also known as Airport Rail Link. Taking Airport Rail Link is the cheapest and in some cases fastest way to get from Bangkok Airport to train station.

When going from Bangkok Airport to Hua Lamphong train station, you need to get off at Makkasan station. A train ticket from Suvarnabhumi to Makkasan station costs 35 THB per person.

The trip by this train can take about 22 minutes. Many people get out at this station so there's normally no problem with getting out from the train here even if you have big luggage.

ARL Makkasan Station

From Phetchaburi Station you need to take train to MRT Hua Lamphong Station. Metro ticket for this trip costs 32 THB per person. The trip by MRT between Phetchaburi and Hua Lamphong stations normally takes about 13 minutes. For getting out right at Bangkok Train Station you need to choose Exit 4.

Total price of the trip from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Hua Lamphong is 67 THB per person. Normally traveling this way from Bangkok Airport to train station should take about one hour, including connection and purchasing of the tickets.

Airport Rail Link operates daily from 05:30 to midnight. If you will be landing at BKK airport outside of these hours, you will need to use taxi instead. 

Taxi from Bangkok Airport to Hua Lamphong Train Station

Taking a Bangkok taxi is a more comfortable way for getting from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Hua Lamphong Train Station. The distance between Bangkok Airport and train station is about 35 km and it can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour or even more, if the traffic conditions are bad.

The taxi fare from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Bangkok Train Station should be around 350-450 THB not including the airport surcharge (50 THB) and tollway fee (75 THB). The fare can get higher if the traffic will be jammed. Bangkok taxi drivers don’t have the best reputation and they might refuse to turn the meter on and try to set a higher fare. Don’t agree on that!
