Taking one of DMK airport buses from central Bangkok to Don Mueang Airport (DMK) is one of the cheapest ways to get there. To travel from MRT or BTS to Don Mueang Airport, you can board airport bus A1, A2 at the bus stop near BTS Mo Chit Station or MRT Chatuchak Park Station.
Mo Chit BTS to Don Mueang Airport
You can board the airport A1 or A2 to travel directly from the station of BTS to Don Mueang Airport.
Once you drop off from the train at BTS SkyTrain Mo Chit station, you will be facing Chatuchak Park and a row of bus stops will be in front of you.
When walking down the stairs, you will see a signboard showing the direction to airport bus. Just follow the sign and walk to Exit 3.
At the end of Exit 3 you can go down by the escalator which can be found on the right side. However, the escalator will be moving UPWARDS between 6:00 and 15:00. If you will be arriving during that time, you will have to use turn staircase, which is on the left side.
In reality, if you have a big luggage when traveling from BTS to Don Mueang Airport, you can take Exit 1 as it has the lift to get down to the road level (see the picture bellow).
Once down to the street level, you will see a bus stop with a sign displaying "BUS STOP A1, A2". It's a busy bus stop and you will see a lot of buses passing by, just wait for the bus A1 or A2 to arrive.
Chatuchak Park MRT to Don Mueang Airport
You can also board the airport A1 or A2 to travel directly from the station of MRT to Don Mueang Airport.
From MRT Metro Chatuchak Park station take Exit 2 to the street, turn right and you will see the stairs leading to BTS SkyTrain station in front of you.
Just walk pass the stairs, there will be a bus stop with a sign displaying "BUS STOP A1, A2" - the same bus as you use when taking a bus from BTS to Don Mueang Airport.
New Don Mueang Airport buses are blue with a clearly displayed bus number on it. The ticket costs 30 THB and should be bought on board. Most of the people on the bus are going to the airport so there will be only a few stops before finally reaching the main entrance of Terminal 1 at Don Mueang Airport. Most of the bus route is on the expressway so the bus ride to the airport usually takes less than an hour. It can take about 30-40 minutes but no guarantees as it depends on the time of the day and traffic conditions.

A1 Bus, From Don Mueang Airport: First bus - 06:00, Last bus - 24:00
A2 Bus, From Don Mueang Airport: First bus - 06:15, Last bus - 23:00
Tips
In case you are planning to stay near BTS line and use BTS often, make sure to get Bangkok BTS Rabbit Card that helps you not to waste time buying single tickets each time you travel.
To avoid transferring between different Bangkok public transportation lines, pre-book a direct private transfer to Don Mueang Airport from your hotel.
Apart from A1/A2 Airport Bus, there are other Bangkok bus routes you can take from Mochit bus stop as their route runs along the road leading to Don Mueang Airport. However, these buses don’t go inside the airport, so you need to drop off on the road near Don Mueang Train Station and then walk to the terminal.
If you don't want to take a bus from BTS to Don Mueang Airport, you can take the train to BTS Wat Phra Sri Mahathat station and then continue your trip to the airport by taxi or the combination of MRT Pink Line and SRT Red Line trains.
Traveling to Don Mueang Airport from MRT Blue Line is easier than BTS as you only need to transfer once at MRT Bang Sue station, where SRT Red Line train to Don Mueang Airport can be boarded.
